NEWS PRE SCOPE TRAINING DAY 26TH AUGUST
A full day's programme of events for the Academy started with Selina and the members building a course and discussing their distances whilst doing a course walk. The first ride of 128cm/138cm had a fantastic pre Scope warm up and we are expecting good results from Katie and Connie in the Golden Bears! Good luck girls! The other groups enjoyed a lecture in the cafe on the use of studs and how to put them in. As many hadn't used them before they all felt more prepared after Dani's very informative lecture. The second ride followed before a break for lunch. After lunch, saw the arrival of top Young Rider Matthew Sampson and his horse Colin 43 to do a demonstration. He gave us all a fantastic insight as to his warm up routine, some flatwork exercises and a very useful demonstration of riding jump off turns. Hopefully our members will be putting these tips into practice when they get to Scope! He also demonstrated the correct cool down technique and then answered everyone's questions. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed seeing Matthew's demonstration and a huge thank you to him for taking the time out to visit us. Two more sessions followed and a short quiz saw the end to a brilliant day. Everyone learned loads, got some great tips and made lots of new friends. An extra thank you goes to Sally who provided everyone with delicious cakes and kept parents topped up with coffee! All that remains to say is GOOD LUCK to everyone at Scope and don't forget to send us your photos and news so we can put them on the website! More pictures from our Pre Scope Training Day can be found in the Photo Gallery.
